A major controversy has erupted in Dehradun’s Dalanwala area over an alleged illegal construction. Despite a sealing order issued by the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority, or MDDA, on August 28, 2024, the building has still not been sealed. Local residents allege that construction work continued and flats are still being sold. The entire matter has now raised serious questions over the functioning of the MDDA.

Report:
The dispute surrounding a multi-storey building in the Dalanwala area is intensifying. According to official documents, MDDA had declared the construction to be in violation of the Uttarakhand Urban Planning and Development Act, 1973, and the amended Act of 2009, issuing a sealing order on August 28, 2024.
However, residents claim that even after nearly two years, no sealing action has been taken. They allege that construction activities continued uninterrupted and flats were being sold during this period. Locals say that sealing actions against poor residents’ homes are often carried out immediately, but in this case, authorities have shown unusual delay and negligence.
The matter has now put MDDA under scrutiny. Residents are demanding a fair investigation and immediate action. It is also being reported that the case is scheduled for hearing on Saturday.
Closing:
The biggest question now is: if the sealing order had already been issued, why was action delayed for so long? And will accountability be fixed on the officials responsible?
