Educated youth should join politics to bring about change: CM Atishi
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi urged students to actively engage in politics and cautioned against leaving crucial decisions in the hands of the “worst kind of people”. Speaking at the foundation day celebrations of Delhi’s St Stephen’s College, Atishi recalled the days when she was a student and how politics was dismissed as a career option by calling it a “lowly job”. “It was more than two decades ago when I was a student here. At that time, the idea of bringing about change was limited to charity or social work. Politics was difficult to access,” she said, according to a statement. She said that not joining politics leaves crucial decisions related to education, healthcare and security in the hands of others. “When educated, well-intentioned youth stay away from politics, we allow the wrong people to make the most important decisions of our lives,” Atishi stressed. “India’s future is in our hands,” she said. Get involved in politics and democracy. Without getting involved we cannot expect change.
