Yoga Guru Ramdev stated on Wednesday that slogans demanding ‘Azadi’ (freedom) against ‘Brahmanism’ and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) should not be a cause for concern, as the Constitution grants equal rights to all communities. Speaking to reporters in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, Ramdev remarked that while raising slogans against Brahmanism or the RSS might be wrong, the Constitution guarantees equal rights for all groups. Ramdev emphasized that the country would not be run from the streets; it would be governed solely by Parliament. Decisions regarding who becomes the Education Minister would not be made on the streets but by the Prime Minister and Parliament. Addressing the ‘Azadi’ slogans targeting Brahmanism and the RSS, he said that no one should have an issue if Pralhad Joshi was born into the Brahmin community and learned nationalism from the RSS. Ramdev further stated that the Constitution grants rights to Brahmins just as it does to Dalits and the oppressed; therefore, vilifying Brahmanism is unconstitutional, just as vilifying Shudras is unconstitutional. He also criticized the ‘Generation Z’ protests at Jantar Mantar, stating that these demonstrations brought disrepute to India.
