Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed the state Home Department to withdraw the First Information Reports (FIRs) registered against those who protested against the NEET paper leak. Sources provided this information on Tuesday. According to sources, most of the protests last week occurred in Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur. These police cases were linked to demonstrations held in support of the anti-NEET paper leak movement\u2014spearheaded by the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (Kajpa) at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. The charges filed in these cases primarily related to unlawful assembly. Sources stated that Fadnavis, who holds the Home portfolio, has issued instructions to withdraw the FIRs registered by the police against the protesters in the state. A large number of students, youths, and activists had staged protests across various parts of the state regarding the NEET paper leak incident that occurred in May. The protesters had demanded the resignation of the then Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and reforms in the education sector.
