Chidambaram hit back, saying that the Manmohan Singh-led government acted with restraint, maturity, and responsibility in the face of one of India&#8217;s worst terrorist attacks. In a detailed post on X, Chidambaram said that then-Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and the government acted with utmost restraint and maturity. It was the right decision and earned the world&#8217;s respect. The senior Congress leader also said that the government&#8217;s restrained approach in 2008 prevented major tensions in the region and ensured that India maintained its global standing as a responsible democracy. Prime Minister Modi said on Wednesday, &#8220;The entire country was angry after the 26\/11 attacks. But India&#8217;s response should have been stronger at that time.
