BJP is Engaged in Misgovernance

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday targeted the central government, accusing the BJP of failing on several fronts and engaging in “misgovernance” in 2025. On the eve of the new year, he wished the government would provide good governance in the coming year. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Kharge said, “I pray that this year goes well and everyone is happy. I hope the new year brings prosperity and good health to all, and that the governments provide good governance in the coming year.” Earlier today, in a post, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha attacked the BJP, citing 14 contentious issues, including the replacement of MGNREGA, the falling rupee, and inflation. Referring to MGNREGA and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, two issues on which the Congress had shown unity in the run-up to the 2025 elections, he alleged that the central government was snatching away citizens’ right to work and right to vote. The Congress leader wrote on X, “On the last day of the year, it is important to remember how the country was run in the 11th year of BJP rule, 2025—the ‘right to work’ was snatched away from millions of poor people by abolishing MGNREGA. Without any preparation, without BLO training, the ‘right to vote’ was snatched away from millions of people through SIR, and the BJP’s vote theft was caught red-handed.” This comes at a time when Parliament has passed the Developed India-Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) Act, 2025, replacing MGNREGA, which was introduced by the UPA government.
