JP Nadda hits back sharply at Mallikarjun Kharge’s allegations
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday targeted the central government, alleging failures and misgovernance by the BJP on several fronts in 2025. On New Year’s Eve, he wished the government would provide good governance in the coming year. In an X post this morning, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha criticized the BJP, citing 14 contentious issues, including the replacement of MGNREGA, the falling rupee, and inflation. Now, Union Minister and BJP President JP Nadda has retaliated. Nadda accused Congress and Kharge of spreading lies, saying, “Mr. Kharge, stop spreading lies and introspect instead of being self-obsessed. You have no ground beneath your feet, yet you still don’t believe it.” Nadda wrote on X, “Mallikarjun Kharge ji, does Congress have any other work besides spreading lies? Congress lost Madhya Pradesh, lost Chhattisgarh, lost Maharashtra, and you were completely wiped out in Delhi and Bihar. Mr. Kharge, in 2025, the people of the country rejected all your lies. Despite this, you are not giving up on cultivating lies.” In his long post, the BJP president said, “It’s amazing. You lied about MNREGA, saying it has been abolished and the ‘right to work’ of the poor has been snatched away, while the truth is that MNREGA has been expanded and strengthened, the number of workdays has been increased to 125, payment is ensured within 15 days, and it has been linked to village empowerment. Incidentally, while this was being discussed in Parliament, your ‘leaders’ left the discussion and were meeting anti-India people in the ‘Global Progressive Alliance’ funded by the anti-India George Soros. Isn’t that right?” Continuing his attack on Kharge, he said, “You have again lied about SIR and BLOs, claiming that people’s ‘right to vote’ was snatched away and that the BJP’s vote theft was caught – Mr. Kharge, it was the people of the country who caught your lies, and your lies were also rejected in court. What happened in Bihar, Mr. Kharge? How many of your BLA’s went to the ground? How many complaints did you file with the Election Commission? There was no theft of people’s votes; they exercised their right to vote and shut down your ‘booth capturing’ and shop of lies.” He said, “Mr. Kharge, you questioned the country’s economy. The truth is that under your government, India was among the ‘Fragile Five’, today it is among the ‘Top Five’. Today, India is not only the world’s fourth-largest economy but also the fastest-growing economy in the world amidst all the turmoil. India’s foreign exchange reserves are at a record high, but you won’t see this because your intention is to defame the country. The people of the country and the whole world consider India an economic superpower; your refusal to acknowledge this doesn’t change anything, Mr. Kharge!” Nadda said, “Mr. Kharge, you have habitually questioned India’s brave armed forces again. The whole world saluted ‘Operation Sindoor’, but all your leaders kept speaking the language of Pakistan. Don’t you feel any shame, Mr. Kharge? Your leaders eat the country’s bread and sing praises of Pakistan! You trust other countries, even Pakistani leaders, but not the country’s army, not the country’s Parliament, not the country’s Prime Minister, not the country’s Defence Minister. This is because you have become so blind in your opposition to the country that you have stopped seeing anything at all. You also lied about the surgical strike, and the air strike – the public knows your anti-national thinking!” He said, “Mr. Kharge, with what face do you talk about inflation? Today, the inflation rate in India is lower than in many developed countries of the world. You are also lying about GST, while economic experts around the world are explaining how the GST reforms have benefited the Indian economy.” GST collections have seen a record increase, small shopkeepers have benefited, common people have received relief, and the country’s economy has received a boost. Continuing his attack on the Congress president, the Union Minister wrote, “Mr. Kharge, even today, while your leaders are enjoying their New Year’s holidays, our government and our Prime Minister are holding meetings and approving infrastructure projects – that’s the difference, Mr. Kharge!” He added, “As for the judiciary, no one has defamed the judiciary as much as your party and your leaders have, Mr. Kharge. When a decision didn’t go your way, you brought an impeachment motion against the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and now you’ve brought one against a Justice of the Madras High Court. You insulted two Chief Justices while they were still in office. Even now, it is your party members who are both pressuring and insulting the judiciary.”
