CM Sarma’s Major Action Plan
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Thursday that the state government will deport any person declared a foreigner by a tribunal within a week. Addressing a press conference, the Assam Chief Minister said that the government has identified and deported 2,000 foreign nationals. He said, “We have intensified deportation efforts. There has been an 81 percent increase in filing charge sheets in courts. The conviction rate was 6 percent in 2021; it has now increased to 26.38 percent.
