Cordial relations between ruling and opposition parties are a unique tradition of Maharashtra: Gadkari
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Saturday that Maharashtra has always had cordial relations between the ruling and opposition parties, a phenomenon not seen in many other states of the country. Speaking at a book launch event on the occasion of the centenary celebrations of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, the senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader said that the state has a unique tradition of excellent relations between political parties, transcending ideological differences. Recalling the tenures of former Chief Ministers like Yashwantrao Chavan, Vasantdada Patil, Sharad Pawar, Sudhakarrao Naik, and Manohar Joshi, he said that the relations between the opposition and ruling parties during their time were an example for every legislator working in a democracy. Gadkari said that this tradition established by Maharashtra in that era is not found in many states of the country today. He praised the book based on the 100-year history of the Legislative Council.
