Congress is Spreading Hatred Against Hindus, BJP Targets Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy
A political controversy erupted in Telangana after remarks made by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy about Hindu deities during an internal Congress meeting went viral, drawing sharp reactions from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Addressing newly appointed District Congress Committee (DCC) chiefs and other senior leaders on Tuesday (December 2, 2025), Mr. Reddy drew a parallel between the diverse viewpoints within the party and the multitude of deities in Hinduism. In his characteristic informal style, the Chief Minister remarked that Hinduism has approximately three crore gods and goddesses, with a deity for every occasion and situation. Strongly criticizing Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s remarks on Hindu deities, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday accused the Congress of spreading hatred against Hindus with a “Muslim League” mindset. Speaking at a Congress executive committee meeting on Tuesday, Reddy had said that the party takes everyone along and includes people with diverse viewpoints. He compared the party to Hinduism, saying that devotees worship many gods and goddesses. “The Congress has crossed all limits in defaming the entire constitutional framework with an urban Naxalite mentality, and spreading hatred against Hinduism is the agenda of the ‘Muslim League’,” Trivedi told reporters at the BJP headquarters. Trivedi said such statements cannot be tolerated. He said, “He (Revanth Reddy) recently said that Congress means Muslims and Muslims mean Congress. …You can go with the Muslim community, we have no objection. But if you insult Hindu gods and goddesses, it will not be tolerated.” The BJP leader said that Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also “insulted” Hindu deities by advising school children not to greet him by saying ‘Radhe-Radhe’. Trivedi said that a video of Sukhu has surfaced in which children are seen greeting him by saying ‘Radhe-Radhe’, and the Chief Minister is asking them, ‘What is the need to say Radhe-Radhe?’ The BJP leader asked, “Have Congress and Rahul Gandhi started advancing the agenda of eradicating Hinduism? Has Congress instructed its Chief Ministers to directly attack Indian culture and Hindu gods and goddesses?” Reddy had said, “How many gods do Hindus have? Three crore. There is Hanuman for the unmarried. There is another god for those who marry twice.” BJP Rajya Sabha member and national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi termed Reddy’s statement an insult to Hindu deities and accused the Congress of working with a “Muslim League-Maoist” ideology.
