Directed to reduce safari activities in forest areas of Mysuru: Siddaramaiah
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Monday that he has directed officials to reduce safari activities in Mysuru’s forest areas after three farmers died in October. He said that due to increasing human activities in forest areas and search for water and food, wild animals are coming towards human settlements. Siddaramaiah told reporters here, what has happened is that the movement of people has increased in the forest area and resorts are being built. He said, apart from this, there has also been an increase in safari activities – this is one of the reasons. Also, they (wild animals) come to villages for water and food. The Chief Minister said, a meeting was held with the forest officials yesterday. I will call another meeting soon. We will take action against the illegal resort and I have directed the authorities to reduce safari activities in the forest.
