Paswan dedicated his life to the deprived and exploited sections of society: Shah
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Wednesday that Ram Vilas Paswan dedicated his entire life to the deprived, exploited, and backward sections of society. Paying tribute to the former Union Minister and founder of the Lok Janshakti Party on his death anniversary, Shah said Paswan advocated for the rights of the underprivileged since his student days. He said, “Ram Vilas ji’s compassionate personality and commitment to public service will always remain in our memories. On the death anniversary of Ram Vilas Paswan ji, I pay my tribute to him.” Paswan, a nine-time Lok Sabha member and two-time Rajya Sabha member, first became an MP from Hajipur in 1977 during the anti-Emergency wave. Being a Dalit, he soon established himself as a pillar of Bihar politics. He founded the Lok Janshakti Party in 2000. Paswan’s son and Lok Sabha member Chirag Paswan is now a Union minister in the BJP-led NDA government and plays a key role in Bihar, where assembly elections are due next month. Ram Vilas Paswan died on October 8, 2020.
