Jan Suraj Party Launches Fundraising App
Former election strategist Prashant Kishore’s Jan Suraj Party launched a fundraising campaign on Wednesday ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections. Party national president Uday Singh also claimed that the party has approached the High Court, accusing the NDA government in Bihar of involvement in corruption worth ₹70,000 crore. Launching the Jan Suraj Yojnad app at a press conference here, Singh claimed that people are eager to contribute to the party’s growth. “People can now contribute from ₹100 to ₹50,000 through this app, which is available in Hindi and English,” he said. Singh claimed that the Jan Suraj Party has been continuously exposing corrupt ministers of the NDA government. “We have approached the High Court in a corruption case involving ₹70,000 crore of unaccounted money. This money has been embezzled by Bihar government officials,” he claimed. Party general secretary Kishore Kumar Munna accused Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary of involvement in the alleged rape-murder incident of July 1999, when the RJD was in power in Bihar. Singh said, “Within a few days of the incident, Samrat Chaudhary’s father, Shakuni Chaudhary, joined the ruling RJD. Was this done to shield Samrat Chaudhary from investigation? The Deputy Chief Minister should clarify his position on this.” Party leader and senior lawyer YV Giri demanded a CBI investigation into the alleged corruption case involving ₹70,000 crore. Giri said that usually, government officials withdrawing money from the public treasury are required to submit utilization certificates. But in this case, hardly any utilization certificates were submitted. He alleged that the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) had ignored the matter. He said that Lalu Yadav’s case, in which several people were charged and sent to jail, involved only ₹950 crore, yet no action is being taken in the current case.
