BJP Accuses Hemant Soren Government of Appeasement

Babulal Marandi, president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has accused the state government led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren of appeasing minorities. Marandi also threatened a statewide movement over an “illegal” religious structure in Gumla. Sharing a letter to Chief Minister Soren with the media on Saturday, he said that a Tazia structure made of bricks and bamboo was erected on the private land of a man named Rupesh Kumar Singh in Gumla’s Raja Colony more than three weeks ago. Marandi said that despite a police complaint, no action has been taken by the administration. The BJP leader claimed in the letter that Rupesh Singh was informed on September 9 that a group from a particular community had encroached upon his 0.71-acre ancestral land and built a platform to place the Tazia. “One of the accused, Mohammad Arif Ansari, is the district secretary of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha,” the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly claimed in the letter. Singh filed a police complaint alleging encroachment and illegal construction, but the case has not progressed. He alleged that those who informed Singh about the incident were threatened with dire consequences and communal violence. The BJP leader linked the incident to the growing trend of land jihad and love jihad, saying that such acts are taking place under government patronage, deepening communal divisions across the state. He warned that if the government continues to ignore the situation, the BJP will launch massive protests across Jharkhand. Responding to these BJP allegations, JMM National General Secretary and spokesperson Vinod Pandey accused Marandi of making baseless allegations and playing communal politics.
