Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Saturday that separate departments working separately causes unnecessary delays in projects. Therefore, all departments should work together to formulate a common action plan and ensure its timely implementation. According to an official statement, while reviewing urban development projects at a high-level meeting of the Urban Development Department, Yogi Adityanath directed officials to ensure that development work is carried out in a planned and coordinated manner. The Chief Minister issued strict instructions to stop colonies and settlements being developed without standards and permission from municipal bodies at the initial stage. Emphasizing regular monitoring of all urban development schemes, Yogi said that any laxity in implementation will not be tolerated. Laying special emphasis on the development of slums, the Chief Minister said that basic amenities such as cleanliness, drinking water supply, drainage, road connectivity, garbage collection, and streetlights should be ensured there. He also said that the drainage system needs to be further strengthened. Every city should have drainage systems that prevent waterlogging after heavy rains. The Chief Minister directed that improvements to the drainage system and new systems be regularly monitored so that citizens do not face any inconvenience during rains. Regarding the development of “Smart City,” the Chief Minister directed that its plans be prepared in a way that ensures overall development of the city and also increases revenue.
