No matter where Azam Khan goes, SP-BSP defeat in 2027 certain: Keshav Prasad Maurya claims

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said on Tuesday that regardless of former Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan’s political choice after being granted bail in the Quality Bar land encroachment case, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) are heading for a “certain” defeat in the 2027 elections. In a post shared on X, Maurya said that whether Mohammad Azam Khan stays in the SP or joins the BSP, the defeat of both the SP and BSP in 2027 is certain. Meanwhile, Azam Khan, a prominent Samajwadi Party leader, walked out of Sitapur jail today after spending nearly two years in jail. Upon his release, Khan expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his supporters and told ANI, “Thank you everyone. My blessings to all those who supported me.” Azam Khan was jailed in the Quality Bar land encroachment case and was released in May this year after being granted bail by the Allahabad High Court. Regarding rumors of him joining the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Khan said, “Only those who are speculating can say this… I didn’t meet anyone in jail. I wasn’t allowed to make phone calls… So, I’ve been completely out of contact for five years.” Earlier, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav praised Khan’s release and promised that if the SP returns to power in Uttar Pradesh, all “false” cases against him will be withdrawn.
