Stalin targets PM Modi’s GST reforms

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms, saying that 50% of the relief provided to consumers is borne by state governments. Furthermore, it is our duty to point out that 50% of this relief is actually borne by state governments, a fact the central government has failed to acknowledge or appreciate. Stalin said the central government is denying funds that rightfully belong to the states. The DMK chief said on X that Tamil Nadu is being deprived of the Samagra Shiksha Nidhi simply because we do not accept the Hindi imposition. When will this injustice end? Criticizing Modi’s statement that GST reforms and income tax relief will save Indians ₹2.5 lakh crore, Stalin said this is what the opposition has been demanding. He further said that if these measures had been implemented eight years ago, families across the country would have already saved several lakh crore rupees. The GST reforms were implemented on September 22, the first day of Navratri, and Prime Minister Modi termed it as GST Bachat Utsav.
