Nitish Kumar government making promises it cannot fulfill before elections: Jan Suraj

Prashant Kishore’s Jan Suraj Party (JSP) on Tuesday alleged that the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar is announcing “financially unviable schemes” ahead of the assembly elections, which will severely burden the state’s finances and cannot be fulfilled. Party spokesperson Pawan K. Verma told reporters that the total estimated cost of such promises by the government is approximately ₹33,000 crore. He claimed that the state already has an outstanding debt of ₹4,06,476 crore. Verma alleged, “The irresponsible NDA government in Bihar is making promises it cannot fulfill. This is an act of misleading the public.” He said, “In the democracy envisaged in our Constitution, a government is expected to function for five years. But instead of working, this government is distributing freebies as last-minute compensation for its losses.” Verma appealed to the Election Commission and the Supreme Court to take cognizance of the state government’s “reckless actions.” Regarding the ₹100 crore defamation notice sent to Prashant Kishor by JD(U) leader Ashok Choudhary, Verma said, “This is a welcome step for him. Choudhary had no other option. He certainly couldn’t have remained silent. If he had a factual answer to our allegations, he would have held a press conference and presented his clarification.” He said that Kishor has all the documents and evidence to support his allegations. Verma said, “This is just the beginning…more big revelations will come.” Verma alleged that Nitish Kumar no longer has control over his cabinet. His personality has undergone a radical change. He was once a leader with a sharp intellect and principles, but now, taking advantage of his poor health, his colleagues and ministers are abusing power and promoting corruption.
