Need to give importance to science and technology and increase exports: Gadkari
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Saturday that the countries which are doing ‘dadagiri’ in today’s world are able to do so because they have technology and they are financially strong. Addressing a program at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) here, Gadkari underlined the need to increase India’s exports and reduce imports. Gadkari said, “If the rate of our exports and economy increases, then I do not think we will need to go to anyone. Those who are doing ‘dadagiri’ are doing so because they are financially strong and they have technology. If we get better technology and resources, we will not bully anyone because our culture teaches us that the welfare of the world is most important.”He said, “We are facing various problems at the global level and the solution to all these problems is science and technology, that is, knowledge, which is a power.” The former president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that if India has to become a ‘Vishwaguru’, then it is necessary to increase exports and reduce imports.
