Hydrocarbons found in Dibrugarh, Assam: Chief Minister Sharma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma on Wednesday said that Oil India Limited (OIL) has discovered hydrocarbons in the Namrup Borhat-1 well in Dibrugarh district, in which the state government has a significant stake. The Chief Minister described the discovery as a major step towards energy security and economic resilience. Sharma said in a post on ‘X’, “Oil India Limited has found the presence of hydrocarbons in the Namrup Borhat-1 well, in which the Government of Assam has a significant stake.” The Chief Minister said that this discovery ensures successful investment in ‘oil drilling’ and contributes to national energy security. He wrote in his post, “This discovery makes Assam the first direct oil producing state, makes exploration efforts successful, empowers Assam with revenue and royalty and ensures continuous availability of energy for the country.” Sharma described the discovery as a proud moment.
