Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Thursday targeted his ally JDU-led Bihar government over the rising crime in the state and said that the morale of criminals is sky high. His reaction came after a prisoner who had come out on parole for treatment at a private hospital in Patna was shot dead by five unidentified assailants this morning. Paswan, Union Minister of Food Processing Industries and head of NDA ally Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), questioned the functioning of the police and administration and said that it is beyond comprehension. Chirag Paswan said on X that law and order in Bihar has become a matter of serious concern today. Murders are taking place every day, the morale of criminals is sky high. The working style of the police-administration is beyond comprehension. He said that today the incident of criminals entering Paras Hospital located in a residential area of Patna and openly firing is proof that criminals are now directly challenging the law and administration. The rising crime rate just before the Bihar assembly elections is a matter of concern. It is expected that the administration will soon take concrete and strict steps to bring the law and order situation back on track. Paswan’s remarks came a day ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bihar, where he will launch several development projects worth Rs 7,200 crore and address a rally. The LJP (R) chief said the rising crime rate just months ahead of the Bihar assembly elections later this year is a matter of concern and urged the administration to take steps to improve law and order. “The rising criminal rate just before the Bihar assembly elections is a matter of concern. It is expected that the administration will soon take concrete and strict steps to bring the law and order situation back on track,” he said. According to police, the firing took place at Paras Hospital located in the Raja Bazaar area of the city. The victim, identified as Chandan Mishra, is an accused in a murder case in Buxar district and was released from Beur jail on medical parole and was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
