Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to formulate a detailed policy to protect cows in the state. For this, he has constituted a three-member team of Special Chief Secretary (Animal Husbandry) Sabyasachi Ghosh, Principal Secretary (Religious Affairs) Shailaja Ramaiyar and Agriculture Secretary Raghunandan Rao. The committee of officials will conduct an in-depth study on the establishment of ‘Gaushalas’ and will also visit other states to study policies for the protection of cows. The Chief Minister expressed grief over the recent incidents of death of a large number of cows donated by devotees in Gaushalas due to lack of space and other reasons. He directed officials to build Gaushalas with modern facilities at four places in the state.
