There may be further delay in the election of the new BJP president, know where the problem is
The election of the new BJP president may be postponed till the end of July or the first week of August. Some big states have not yet completed their organizational elections and there is no consensus between the party and the RSS on a name for the top post. According to the BJP constitution, at least half of the states have to complete their election process to elect the state unit president. At present, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and other big states have not completed this process. Once this process is completed, the party will elect its national president in consultation with the RSS. Highly placed sources in the BJP said that this entire process is likely to take more time and hence the current president JP Nadda will remain the president till the end of July or the first week of August. A party official said, “The BJP will fight the Bihar elections to be held in October-November under the leadership of the new president.” However, the delay is not only due to the process and the lack of consensus between the BJP and the RSS on the name is a more plausible reason. In the past, BJP presidents have been chosen in a very short period of time, including the election of Amit Shah in 2014-15 and Nadda to the top post in 2019-20. In fact, Shah and Nadda were appointed presidents first and the selections were confirmed by the state units in the following months. The choice of BJP state unit presidents is also not easy this time, as the party is considering all equations within the organisation as well as region and caste factors. The next state unit chief in Uttar Pradesh may come from the OBC community. In Madhya Pradesh, where the chief minister comes from a backward caste, the state unit chief is likely to be from an upper caste.
