Karnataka government considering making laws against hate speech, online betting: Siddaramaiah

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said his government was seriously considering making laws against hate speech. He also said discussions were on to make laws against online betting. The chief minister said this at the end of a two-day review meeting with deputy commissioners (DCs) of all districts and CEOs of all district panchayats here. “I have said that if someone gives a hate speech, action should be taken against him. We will bring a law against it. The government is seriously considering it,” Siddaramaiah said. Speaking to reporters here, he said, “Strict action should be taken against those giving hate speeches, no matter how influential they are. Criminal cases should be registered against them.”
