Andhra Pradesh government works for poor: CM Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government works for the poor and implements all programmes for them so that they do not face any problems. Addressing a village assembly at Cheyeru in the district, the chief minister said over 64 lakh people in the state get pension on the first of every month just like employees. “This government works for the poor. We are running all programmes to save the poor from any kind of problems,” Naidu said. He said the NDA government was a unique government in history in terms of disbursing pensions. He said the state government has spent Rs 34,000 crore on welfare pensions so far. He said Andhra Pradesh gives more welfare pensions in terms of number and money than richer states like Maharashtra and Telangana. Referring to the Deepam-2 scheme (under which three LPG cylinders are given free to eligible beneficiaries) the Chief Minister said that he would deposit money in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries once in four months to facilitate the benefits of this scheme. The Chief Minister also promised to implement Annadaata Sukhibhava (financial assistance of Rs 20,000 per year to farmers) in three installments soon. Similarly, he also assured to implement free bus travel for women from August 15.
