Mutual sensitivity remains the basis of India-China relations, NSA Doval and Wang Yi had a talk
Regarding China, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that our NSA and Chinese Foreign Minister and Special Representative on the border issue Wang Yi spoke to each other on 10 May 2025, when the NSA conveyed India’s firm stand against cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan. The Chinese side is well aware that mutual trust, mutual respect and mutual sensitivity remain the basis of India-China relations. It is worth noting that soon after the targeted attacks on terrorists and terrorist infrastructure at nine places in Pakistan and PoK under Operation Sindoor, NSA Ajit Doval spoke to his counterparts from several countries. NSA Doval briefed his counterparts on the action taken and the manner of execution, which was measured, non-escalatory and restrained. He stressed that India does not intend to escalate tensions, but if Pakistan decides to escalate tensions, it is fully prepared to respond strongly. NSA Doval has bluntly told China that India does not want war with Pakistan, but if it dares to do anything, it will get a befitting reply. It is worth noting that after India’s action, China’s Foreign Ministry had said in a statement that we are concerned about the current situation. India and Pakistan are each other’s neighbors and will always remain so. They are also both neighbors of China. Giving a clear reference to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, it said that China opposes all forms of terrorism. It said, we urge both sides to work for the larger interest of peace and stability, maintain peace, exercise restraint and avoid taking such action which can complicate the situation further.
