Charanjit Channi demands proof of surgical strike, BJP gets angry
Accusing the Congress of adopting double standards on the Pahalgam terror attack, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday alleged that the party is demoralizing both civilians and the armed forces through diametrically opposite statements of its leaders. BJP national spokesperson Dr. Sambit Patra criticized former Punjab Chief Minister and Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi for questioning the authenticity of India’s surgical strike on Pakistan after the 2019 Pulwama incident. He said that he has no hesitation in saying that there is a Congress Working Committee from outside but there is a Pakistan Working Committee inside. Patra said in a press conference that the whole country is grappling with grief after the Pakistan-sponsored attack in Pahalgam… Yesterday a CWC (Congress Working Committee) meeting was held in which some resolutions were passed. The elephant has one set of teeth to show and another to eat. Patra told reporters that soon after the CWC passed the resolution, Channi held a “parallel” press conference in which he questioned the veracity of India’s air strike in Balakot after the 2019 Pulwama terror attack and also took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He told reporters, “Congress does not miss any opportunity to give oxygen to the Pakistani army and terrorists and boost their morale.” Referring to the Pulwama attack, Channi had said that 40 Indian soldiers were killed and the government claimed action when elections came. The former Punjab Chief Minister had said, “But we never saw where attacks were carried out in Pakistan and where people were killed. If someone hurled bombs in our country, will people not know? They claimed to have carried out a ‘surgical strike’ against Pakistan, but nothing had happened. The ‘surgical strike’ was not seen anywhere and no one had any information about it.”
