Mamata Banerjee said amid violent protests in Bengal, we did not make the Waqf law, ask the Center for its answer

Mamata appealed to everyone on X and said that my humble appeal to the people of all religions is to please remain calm and restrained. Do not engage in any irreligious behavior in the name of religion. Every human’s life is precious, do not incite riots for politics. Those who are rioting are harming the society. She further said that remember, we have not made the law that many people are angry with. This law was made by the Central Government. So the answer you want should be sought from the Central Government. The Chief Minister of West Bengal said that we have made our position clear on this matter – we do not support this law. This law will not be implemented in our state. So then what is the riot about? Also remember that we will take legal action against those who incite riots. We do not support any violent activity. She alleged that some political parties are trying to misuse religion for political gain. Don’t get misled by them. I believe that religion means humanity, kindness, civility and harmony. Everyone should maintain peace and harmony – that is my appeal.
