Personal Law Board seeks time to meet President over Waqf Bill

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board has sought time to meet President Draupadi Murmu to express its concern over the Waqf Amendment Bill passed by Parliament. The bill has been approved by both the Houses of Parliament. With the President’s approval, it will become an Act. According to a release issued by the board, a letter written to the President by Maulana Fazlur Rahim Mujaddidi, general secretary of the board, said, “The amendment made by the bill includes changes that affect the administration and autonomy of the Waqf institution.” The letter further said, “Our purpose of meeting you is to express our deep concern about the recently passed Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 and its implications for the Muslim community across the country. The board claimed that the bill is completely unconstitutional and an attack on the Muslims of the country.
