Need to strike the right balance between regulating AI and promoting innovation: Dhankhar

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday said there is a need to maintain the right balance between regulating artificial intelligence (AI) and promoting innovation. He also called for an independent and accountable National Artificial Intelligence Authority. Addressing a program here, Dhankhar said there is a need to regulate AI while maintaining the right balance between regulation and promoting innovation. According to an official statement, he said, “Excessive regulation is like keeping a child under excessive discipline. We do not have to stifle the spirit of entrepreneurship.” He also said that the impact of artificial intelligence on common citizens should be at the center of the regulation system. The Vice President said that a common person will not be able to find solutions on his own. He said that the system should provide automatic, built-in relief to the common citizens.
