Even Indira Gandhi could not do this, why did S Jaishankar say this about Pakistan
The second phase of the budget session of Parliament is going on. If we talk about today, some work was definitely done in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. However, in the beginning, there was an uproar in the Rajya Sabha over the statement made by the Samajwadi Party MP regarding Rana Sanga. BJP and Congress MPs came face to face. On the other hand, this matter was also raised in the Lok Sabha. The BJP clearly said that India will not tolerate the insult of Rana Sanga. Non-official resolutions brought by the MPs in private were discussed in the Rajya Sabha. The Lok Sabha passed the Goods Transport by Sea Bill, 2024. Referring to the worrying situation of minorities in Pakistan being raised at the international level, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Friday that we cannot change the mindset of a neighboring country whose thinking is fanaticism and extremism and even former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi could not do this. Jaishankar also said during Question Hour in the Lok Sabha that despite many cases of attacks and persecution of religious minorities including Hindus in Pakistan, the government there does not take any action to protect minorities. The External Affairs Minister said that the government keeps a close watch on the treatment of minorities in Pakistan and Bangladesh and raises the cases of their persecution from time to time at many international forums including the United Nations. He informed that in the month of February, 10 cases of atrocities on Hindus, two cases of persecution of Sikhs and one case of atrocity against a person of Christian community came to light in Pakistan. The External Affairs Minister counted cases of kidnapping, forced conversion and police action on students playing Holi. He said that a case of persecution of people belonging to the Ahmadiya community also came to light. Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said in the Lok Sabha on Friday that the “Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2024” will establish better coordination between shippers and carriers and will increase reliability. After discussing the bill, the House passed it by voice vote with some government amendments. This bill, after becoming a law, will replace the ‘Carriage by Sea Act, 1925’. Union Health Minister JP Nadda told Parliament on Friday that as of March 26, all the states and union territories of the country, except West Bengal, have been included in the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). Nadda said that from the launch of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana till March 1, 2025, more than 8.9 crore patients were hospitalized under it. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy said in the Lok Sabha on Friday that there are many factors behind the high fare of air travel and till the development of infrastructure in small cities, the fare will not come down. Taking forward the earlier discussion on the private resolution of Congress MP Shafi Parambil regarding ‘appropriate measures for regulation of air travel fares in the country’ under non-official business in the House, the BJP MP expressed his views.
