‘If he does not know Urdu, why did he not become a scientist’, Owaisi hits back at Yogi’s statement on ‘fanatic’

Politics is heating up over the recent comments made by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Urdu. In this episode, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has also given a statement on Yogi’s statement on ‘fanatic’. Asaduddin Owaisi said that it is clear from this that the UP CM does not know Urdu. But only he can answer why he did not become a scientist. He said that no one from the ideology from which the UP CM comes took part in the freedom struggle of this country. Continuing his attack on Yogi, Owaisi said that he comes from Gorakhpur. Raghupati Sahay ‘Firaq’ also comes from the same Gorakhpur. He was a famous Urdu poet, but he was not a Muslim. This (comment) is his intellectual ability. Yogi had targeted the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Tuesday for demanding the translation of the proceedings of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly into Urdu. He had said, “They send their children to English medium schools, but when the government wants to give this opportunity to the children of others, they (SP leaders) say “teach them Urdu”… They want to make these children maulvis. They want to take the country towards fundamentalism.” National Conference (NC) MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi criticized Yogi Adityanath for his recent comments on Urdu. Mehdi said that Yogi’s remarks reflect “deeply ingrained Islamophobia” in him. Mehdi, Lok Sabha member from Srinagar, targeted Yogi in a post on ‘X’, saying, “The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s disgusting comments – using the word ‘kathmullah’ and mocking maulvis – are the latest example of his deeply ingrained ‘Islamophobia’.” The NC leader described Yogi as “a person who reflects the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) ideology of hatred, division and dehumanization of Muslims.” He said, “The Muslims of Uttar Pradesh deserve better than the hardliners of the RSS.
