‘All routes to Manipur should be opened’

Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level review meeting on the security situation in Manipur in New Delhi today. In the meeting, the Home Minister directed that free movement of public should be ensured on all routes to Manipur from 8 March 2025 and strict action should be taken against those creating obstructions. In the meeting, the Union Home Minister directed to continue strict action in all cases of extortion. He further directed that the fencing work on both sides of the designated entry points on the international border of Manipur should be completed at the earliest. This was the first such high-level meeting after the imposition of President’s rule in the state, which has been grappling with ethnic strife since May 2023.
