Opposition angry over Delhi stampede, fiercely criticized Modi government and railways

A stampede broke out at New Delhi railway station on Saturday night, in which 18 people died and more than 12 people were injured. Sources say that the wrong announcement of change in platform of the train going to Prayagraj created confusion, which led to the stampede. Now the opposition has attacked the Modi government over this incident. Opposition leader and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has criticized the government and railways over the death of 18 people in the stampede at New Delhi railway station. He wrote on ‘X’, ‘The news of many people dying and many getting injured due to stampede at New Delhi railway station is extremely sad and distressing. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and hope for the speedy recovery of the injured. This incident once again highlights the failure of the railways and the insensitivity of the government. Better arrangements should have been made at the station in view of the large number of devotees going to Prayagraj. The government and administration should ensure that no one loses their life due to mismanagement and negligence.’AAP leader Raghav Chadha has criticised railway officials for the lack of crowd control measures after at least 18 people died in a stampede at New Delhi Railway Station yesterday. He said, ‘The tragic stampede at New Delhi Railway Station has shocked us all. Many innocent people, including women and children, have lost their lives. This disaster is a vivid example of gross mismanagement and lack of crowd control measures. On February 11, I had raised this issue in Parliament, warning about the urgent need for better management protocols at railway stations, but the government ignored it. My deepest condolences to the families of the victims. Those responsible must be held accountable, and urgent reforms are necessary to prevent such tragedies in the future.’Arvind Kejriwal condoled the deaths in the stampede. He said, ‘The tragic death of the devotees going to Maha Kumbh in the accident at New Delhi Railway Station is extremely sad and painful. May their souls rest in peace. My condolences to all the families who lost their loved ones in the accident.’
