Road accidents happening due to chaos in Maha Kumbh: Akhilesh Yadav
Samajwadi Party (SP) national president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government, accusing it of mismanagement in the Maha Kumbh and demanding compensation for the devotees who lost their lives during the pilgrimage. Yadav said in a post on ‘X’, “The news of buses and other vehicles carrying devotees of Maha Kumbh getting into accidents is increasing every day. Which is very sad.” The SP chief, while listing the reasons for the accidents, said, “The main reason behind this is that due to heavy traffic jams and chaos, the condition of the drivers is very bad. Neither are they getting tired nor are they getting enough sleep. In such a situation, they are driving in a semi-sleep state, which is causing accidents.” Yadav suggested, “Along with this, there is also a challenge to save pedestrians on the roads. Therefore, deaths are occurring as soon as the attention is diverted. The only solution to this is good management, which only the government can do but it is unable to do so.” He demanded from the government, “All the dead devotees who went on the Mahakumbh Yatra and died due to stampede, accident or suffocation at different places should be treated equally and their families should be given compensation for this.” The SP Chief said, “All the injured should be given compensation along with treatment. The Central and State Governments should provide money for this from various funds. When billions of rupees can be spent on publicity, then why cannot it be given as consolation to the bereaved families.
