18 killed in stampede at New Delhi railway station, extremely heartbreaking: Mamata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday expressed grief over the death of people in the stampede at New Delhi railway station and stressed the need for careful planning and management for the safety of people. At least 18 people were killed and over a dozen injured in the stampede at this crowded railway station in the national capital late Saturday night. Mamata said in a post on ‘X’, “The tragic death of 18 people in the Delhi (New Delhi Railway Station) stampede is extremely heartbreaking. This tragic incident highlights the importance of careful planning and management, especially when it comes to the safety of citizens.” She said, “Pilgrims going to Maha Kumbh should get proper help and facilities, not be troubled. It is necessary to ensure that such journeys are safe and well-organized.” Mamata said, “My condolences to the bereaved families and I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.
