Kapil Sibal’s advice to INDIA Bloc after election defeat, need to work together

The recent setbacks suffered by the major parties within the India Alliance in the assembly elections have given rise to calls for introspection and strategic restructuring. Senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal highlighted the need for careful cooperation among the alliance parties to tackle future electoral challenges. Sibal cited the Congress party’s struggles in the 2020 Bihar elections, where their performance hindered the Mahagathbandhan’s race for a majority. Sibal also cited RJD’s criticisms of the Congress’ effectiveness in past contests, saying that internal squabbling sometimes affects collective efforts. Reflecting on the BJP’s victories in Delhi, Maharashtra and Haryana, Sibal acknowledged the advantage the BJP had through its united command structure during the elections. He also emphasised the need for the India Alliance to convene and strategise for the upcoming elections, citing Sharad Pawar’s vision of a national alliance focused on national issues. The Rajya Sabha MP said that the Congress party always tries to work together and move forward with consensus. It is true that sometimes problems arise. In the last election in Bihar, Congress was given seats but they could not win and RJD said that they could not come to power because of Congress. He said that all parties have to decide how to fight the elections. The advantage in BJP is that there is only one command and they fight elections under the same command, so they also benefit. In Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, Congress fought the elections in alliance and they benefited. They (India Alliance) have to sit and work.
