Revanth Reddy seeks Centre’s help for Hyderabad Metro Rail’s second phase, other projects
Hyderabad. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said he has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to approve Regional Ring Road (RRR) and ‘Regional Ring Rail’ to develop Hyderabad as a world-class city and support various development projects of the state, including the second phase of Hyderabad Metro Rail. Reddy addressed a program organised to release the autobiography of former Maharashtra Governor Chowdhary Vidyasagar Rao ‘UNIKA’. He has already requested the Prime Minister to support Telangana in making it a trillion-dollar economy state in the country. He said 60 per cent of Telangana’s income comes from Hyderabad. Reddy said he has sought the Central government’s help in allocating a ‘dry port’ in the state and completing the Kazipet Railway Coach Factory as soon as possible. He said Telangana is not competing with Amaravati (capital of Andhra Pradesh) but with the world. “We should compete with cities like New York and Tokyo. To compete with the world, we need all the permissions for (expansion of) metro rail in Hyderabad,” Reddy said, according to a release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office. He said Prime Minister Modi was cooperating with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-ruled Tamil Nadu government to develop metro rail and he has also given approval for Bengaluru. “Breaking party lines, I appeal to Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar and BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) leader Vinod Kumar (who were present at the event) to cooperate for the development of Telangana. We should work together for Telangana. (I) have no differences with anyone. I will meet everyone and seek everyone’s cooperation for the development of Telangana,” Reddy said. He expressed hope that the Union Cabinet will approve the Hyderabad Metro Rail project (Phase II) in its next meeting.
