Bihar Governor asks Prashant Kishor to send student delegation, urges him to end ‘fast’
Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Monday asked Prashant Kishor to end his ‘fast’ and send a student delegation for discussions. According to information shared by Jan Suraj Party, Prashant Kishor is meeting student representatives at Sheikhpura residence today. Jan Suraj founder Prashant Kishor has been on a ‘fast unto death’ for the last 12 days. The 47-year-old former political strategist is continuing the ‘fast unto death’ he started on January 2 to protest against alleged irregularities in the 70th Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) of Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) held on December 13. On Saturday, Kishor was discharged from a hospital in Patna after his health improved. The Jan Suraj Party statement said, “Prashant Kishor’s fast in support of BPSC aspirants continues. He was discharged from the hospital in the evening after his health improved. Detailed information about his satyagraha will be given tomorrow.” Kishore was arrested by the police last week for staging a sit-in at a prohibited place. However, a day after his arrest, Kishore was admitted to a private hospital. He was kept in the ICU for a day, then shifted to the general ward, while his party colleagues urged the candidates and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to put pressure on the young leader to end his fast. A seven-member delegation led by Jan Suraj Party working president Manoj Bharti met Governor Arif Mohammad Khan at the Raj Bhavan. After the meeting, Bharti told reporters that they have submitted a memorandum to the governor, in which they have expressed concern over Prashant Kishore’s long-running fast. The governor assured them that he would talk to the chief minister for the benefit of the students and Prashant Kishore’s well-being.
