Vice President criticized VIP culture in religious places, said – it is against divinity, it should be abolished

Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar visited Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala in Karnataka on Tuesday to inaugurate the Sri Sanidhya complex to reduce waiting time for devotees worshiping at Sri Manjunath Swamy. During this, he criticized the VIP culture at religious places. He said that a pleasant change in our country in recent years has been the development of infrastructure which is important for our religious places. This should be appreciated because these are also the centers of our civilizational values. The Vice President said that we should re-establish the idea of equality in religious institutions. When priority is given, when someone is given priority, when we label it as VVIP or VIP, it weakens the concept of equality. He clearly said that VIP culture is an aberration, it is an intrusion if seen on the basis of equality. It should not have any place in society, let alone religious places. He said, I hope that under the leadership of the greatest person of all time, this shrine will become an example of egalitarianism and we have to stay away from the VIP culture of all time. The very idea of VIP darshan is against divinity. It should be abolished. The new facility has been conceptualised by D Veerendra Heggade and is an advanced replacement of the existing queue system for devotees seeking darshan. The temple management said that the initial queue system at Srikshetra shrine was introduced decades ago, but the waiting period became long due to the increasing number of devotees at the shrine.
