Shivraj Singh Chouhan meets Delhi farmers
Ahead of the announcement of the dates for the Delhi Assembly elections on Tuesday, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held an important meeting with the farmers of Delhi, which was a message from the BJP. The Agriculture Minister said that he has written a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Atishi over the non-implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) in the national capital. We buy crops at MSP through the state governments. I recently called a meeting of all the agriculture ministers and there is not even one in Delhi. The ‘PM Fasal Bima Yojana’ is not implemented here, Chouhan said at a press conference. Attacking the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi, Shivraj said that the state government has become a disaster for the farmers as they are unable to benefit from the schemes launched by the central government. He said that the farmers of Delhi told me that they cannot avail the benefits of the welfare schemes given by the Center as they have not been implemented in Delhi. I have written a letter to CM Atishi expressing this concern. What is the problem? The Government of India is running schemes which are implemented with the help of state governments. He said why are you not taking money from the Centre and giving it to the farmers? Your government has become AAP-DA for the farmers here as they are not getting any benefits. The Union Minister further accused the AAP government of providing electricity to farmers at increased prices. He said they talk of free electricity but they are providing electricity to the farmers of Delhi at increased rates. The solar pump scheme has not been implemented here. I urge the Delhi government to implement the farmer welfare schemes being given by the Centre in Delhi. This happened when farmers from Delhi reached Chouhan’s residence for a meeting.
