Judicial inquiry will be conducted into Parbhani violence and murder of Beed sarpanch: Devendra Fadnavis

Nagpur. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that a judicial inquiry will be conducted into the Parbhani violence and the murder of sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh in Beed district. He assured the House that those responsible for spreading chaos in Beed will be punished regardless of political affiliation. Fadnavis said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by an Inspector General rank officer is already investigating the murder of Masajog village sarpanch Deshmukh. He said that apart from this, a judicial inquiry will also be conducted with a time frame of three to six months. Informing about the transfer of the Superintendent of Police of Beed, the Chief Minister said that there was lapse on the part of the police. The Chief Minister said that a judicial inquiry has also been ordered into the death of Somnath Suryavanshi. Suryavanshi was arrested after violence broke out over the issue of insult to the replica of the Constitution in Parbhani, after which he died. On the evening of December 10, there was a massive protest which took a violent turn after the glass on the replica of the Constitution near the statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar was broken outside the Parbhani railway station. Fadnavis said, “All doubts will be cleared by conducting a judicial inquiry into the Parbhani violence. Ambedkar is not limited to any caste. He belongs to everyone.” The Chief Minister also announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of Deshmukh and Suryavanshi.
