There is no enthusiasm among the people about the huge mandate received by the ‘Mahayuti’ in Maharashtra: Sharad Pawar

Kolhapur. Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) President Sharad Pawar claimed that there is no enthusiasm or happiness among the people of the state after the massive victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led ‘Mahayuti’ alliance in the results of the Maharashtra Assembly elections on November 23. Addressing a press conference in Kolhapur in western Maharashtra, Pawar said that the opposition does not need to worry, but it should go among the people after this shock. He said that the opposition alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will work to ensure that the government implements all its pre-poll promises, including increasing the financial assistance to women under the ‘Ladki Behen’ scheme from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,100 per month. Pawar, who has decades of experience in politics, said, “There is no enthusiasm among the people after the massive mandate given to the Mahayuti.” The Pawar-led party has won only 10 seats in the 288-member assembly. On the question of SP leader Abu Azmi’s announcement of leaving the MVA, Sharad Pawar said that the central leadership of the Samajwadi Party (SP) is firm on opposition unity. SP’s Maharashtra unit president Azmi on Friday announced that his party is parting ways with the MVA because of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (Ubatha) because Thackeray’s close aide has praised those who demolished the Babri Masjid in December 1992. On the question of appointment of the Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Pawar said that the constituent parties of the MVA cannot insist that they get this post as they do not have the required numbers.
