Tribal community is a source of inspiration for sacrifice, loyalty and valor towards the motherland: Yogi Adityanath

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, paying tribute to the glorious culture of the tribal society and their immense devotion towards their motherland, launched the International Tribal Participation Festival on ‘Tribal Pride Day’ to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The festival is being organized from November 15 to 20 at the Sangeet Natak Academy in Gomti Nagar, the state capital Lucknow, in which artists from 22 states of India as well as Slovakia and Vietnam are participating. According to a statement, the Chief Minister said that the tribal community is a source of inspiration for sacrifice, loyalty and valor towards the motherland. He said that the tribal society is not only the original sect of India, but this community has always been ready to serve the country, inspired by high feelings towards the motherland. Addressing the program, the Chief Minister said that when the country was under the grip of foreign power, Bhagwan Birsa Munda fought to protect the rights of his community and for independence. Welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to celebrate November 15 as ‘Tribal Pride Day’, he said that this is an important step to honor the sacrifice of Lord Birsa Munda across the country. The government had announced to celebrate Munda’s birth anniversary as ‘Tribal Pride Day’ in 2021. Chief Minister Yogi said that through this festival, people of tribal community from different parts of the country and the state will present their art and tradition. Emphasizing the efforts of his government towards the empowerment of tribal society, he said, “After forming the government in the state in 2017, he gave priority to the needs of the tribal community, as this society was deprived of the benefits of various schemes in the previous governments.” Referring to the efforts to connect the tribal community with various government schemes, the Chief Minister said, “The campaign to provide government benefits to every needy through the ‘Saturation’ scheme for tribal communities like Tharu, Kol, Cheru, Gond, Buksa is ongoing.” He informed that the tribal community has been covered under schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Har Ghar Shauchalay, Domestic Gas Connection, Old Age Pension, Women Pension and Divyangjan Pension. Yogi mentioned various efforts being made by the government to preserve the culture and tradition of the tribal society. He informed that museums are being built to preserve the art, tradition and heritage of the tribal community. A grand museum has been built in Balrampur to showcase the culture of the Tharu tribe, which he himself has visited. The Chief Minister said, “The tribal community has protected the natural resources of the country even in adverse circumstances. Tribal community resides in 11 districts of Uttar Pradesh, in which Sonbhadra has special importance.” Earlier, Chief Minister Adityanath paid tribute to tribal great man and revolutionary Birsa Munda on his birth anniversary. He also congratulated the people of Jharkhand on the occasion of the state’s foundation day. Yogi Adityanath said in a post on ‘X’, “Many salutes to the immortal hero of the freedom struggle, promoter of forest culture and tribal identity, great revolutionary Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda who taught the struggle to protect the motherland and water-forest-land on his birth anniversary! Heartiest greetings to the people of the state on the sacred remembrance day of great tribal personalities dedicated to the service, honor and protection of Mother India, Tribal Pride Day! Jai Johar…” Greeting the people of Jharkhand, Adityanath said, ”Hearty congratulations and best wishes to the people of Jharkhand on the foundation day of Jharkhand state, the great Tapabhoomi of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, full of natural resources, the holy land of brave martyrs and the incomparable land of spiritual and historical heritage! Jai Johar…” Munda was born in 1875 in Ulihatu, a tribal area of undivided Bihar. He had mobilized the tribals against the British colonial rule and conversion activities. Jharkhand was established on this day, i.e. 15 November 2000. This state was formed on the birthday of Birsa Munda.
