Conspiracy to make Muslims landless in the name of Waqf Amendment: Imran Masood
Saharanpur MP and member of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) Imran Masood said that there is a conspiracy to make Muslims landless in the name of Waqf Amendment. He was speaking at the ‘Tahaffuze Auqaf Conference’ held on Moti Dungri Road here on Sunday night. He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of trying to create a ‘discourse’ with the aim of evicting Muslims from their ancestral land. Masood said that the claims of Muslims encroaching on public lands are “misleading” and these are being made to justify the proposed amendment. He said that only properties owned by Muslims are facing the government’s investigation. Masood said that this is part of the “plan to make Muslims landless”. Adarsh Nagar MLA Rafiq Khan said that the JPC should consult the real stakeholders to understand their views on the bill. “Instead, it is giving time to individuals and groups who are neither stakeholders nor have any understanding of Waqf,” he said. “It is disappointing that JPC Chairperson Jagdambika Pal is allowing presentations by individuals whose focus is on praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi or discussing other matters,” Khan said.
