BSP has caused sleepless nights for BJP and SP, they are coining slogans to divert attention: Mayawati

Lucknow. Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati, while targeting the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Samajwadi Party (SP), said that due to her party being in the fray in the by-elections, both the parties have lost their sleep, so the leaders of both the parties are coining slogans to divert attention. Mayawati alleged an alliance between BJP and SP in the state. Reacting to the slogans like ‘If we divide, we will be cut’ and SP’s ‘If we join, we will win’ given in Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s recent speeches, the BSP chief said on Saturday that keeping in mind their (BJP and SP) double standards and policies in every matter, the reality should be that ‘If we join BSP, we will move ahead and will also be safe.’ Mayawati told reporters, “Ever since by-elections have been announced on nine assembly seats in UP, BJP and SP have lost their sleep because this time BSP is also contesting all the seats alone.” Mayawati said, “For a long time, BSP has not contested most of the by-elections except one or two by-elections, since then especially BJP and SP and their alliance have been contesting these by-elections by dividing themselves.” She said, “But this time when BSP is also in the fray, the problems of the alliance of these two have increased.” The BSP chief claimed, “To divide the attention of the people, BJP has started propagating slogans like ‘If divided, we will be cut’ and SP people have started propagating slogans like ‘If we join, we will win’. Keeping in mind their double standards and policies in every matter, the reality should be that if we join BSP, we will progress and will also be safe.” Claiming better law and order and development under BSP rule, she said, “However, in terms of development and law and order in the state, only BSP rule has been much better than BJP and the previous SP government.” Mayawati warned the people, “In such a situation, one should not fall for empty slogans and posters. Now, due to their shortcomings, BJP people are asking for votes by raising the slogan ‘If divided, we will be cut’, while SP people are asking for votes by raising the slogan ‘If we join, we will win’, whereas under the guise of these (slogans), both the parties are misleading the people here.” He cautioned the voters that these people are raising slogans and putting up posters to divert attention from the shortcomings. Polling will be held on November 13 and counting of votes will be held on November 23 in UP’s Katehari (Ambedkarnagar), Karhal (Mainpuri), Meerapur (Muzaffarnagar), Ghaziabad, Majhawan (Mirzapur), Sisamau (Kanpur Nagar), Khair (Aligarh), Phulpur (Prayagraj) and Kundarki (Moradabad). BJP is contesting on eight out of nine seats and its ally RLD (Rashtriya Lok Dal) on Meerapur seat, while Samajwadi Party with the support of Congress has fielded its candidates on all nine seats. BSP is also in direct contest on all nine seats.
