Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav, accusing the Yogi Adityanath government of atrocities on journalists in Uttar Pradesh, said on Sunday that every trick is being used to encounter the morale of the media in the BJP rule. Yadav also posted a seven-second video in which some people are seen stripping a man naked and beating him. This incident is from Hamirpur. The SP president said on the social media platform X, “Killing a journalist, pressurizing journalists, tying monthly allowances to journalists, filing FIRs against journalists, beating journalists after stripping them naked, giving unwanted drinks to journalists. Every trick is being used to ‘encounter the morale’ of the media in the BJP rule.” The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh said, “Media says today’s thing, we don’t want BJP!” Meanwhile, the Hamirpur police, while responding to Yadav’s post, said on X that the video has surfaced on November 1. An FIR was lodged in this case on October 28 at Jaria police station. One of the named accused, R.K. Soni, has been arrested and police teams have been formed to arrest others involved in the incident.
