Today even good work doesn’t get you votes: Rijiju
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday expressed concern over the deterioration in the standards of politics and said earlier there used to be “good discussions” in Parliament but today there is “too much noise” in the House. He also said that the mindset of people has changed in the last few years and there are very few people who appreciate good work. “I have seen a change in politics in the last few years. Today, you cannot get votes even after doing good work… if you say something good, no one even listens,” he said. Rijiju was addressing a function jointly organised by Rashtriya Seva Bharati and Sant Ishwar Foundation to present awards to social workers who have rendered outstanding service to the society. “The social system has deteriorated a lot, even politically. When we were young MPs, there used to be very good discussions in Parliament,” Rijiju said.
