CM Siddaramaiah’s troubles not decreasing, now accused of destroying evidence
The ongoing controversy over the Karnataka Urban Development Authority (MUDA) ‘scam’ has intensified. Challenges for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah are increasing due to the controversy. A new complaint has been filed against Siddaramaiah, increasing his scrutiny over alleged irregularities in the MUDA. The Chief Minister is now accused of destroying evidence related to the scam, raising concerns about accountability and transparency in his administration. Meanwhile, the main complainant in the alleged MUDA scam, social activist Snehamayi Krishna appeared before the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday to testify and submit records related to the investigation. Sources said Krishna was called to the ED’s Bengaluru zonal office to assist in the investigation initiated against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The ED registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR), equivalent to an FIR, on September 30 on allegations of irregularities in the allocation of 14 slots to Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvati B. The Lokayukta police registered a case against Krishna, the President, his wife and others on September 27 on his complaint. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is facing probe by the Lokayukta and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) plot allotment case, on Wednesday quoted Mahatma Gandhi and said the “court of conscience” is above all courts. Senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah also said Gandhiji’s life and thoughts have given him courage, strength and hope in his “present struggle”. He indirectly pointed to the probe by the concerned agencies in the MUDA case in which 14 plots were allotted to his wife. The opposition is demanding his resignation as chief minister in the case.
