Mamata dissolves Rogi Kalyan Samitis in government hospitals
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday dissolved all Rogi Kalyan Samitis in state-run hospitals and said the new committees, represented by doctors, nurses and local councillors, will be headed by the principals of the hospitals. The chief minister held a meeting with the principals of MSVPs and state hospitals to review safety measures in medical institutions. Describing her meeting with the principals of state medical colleges and hospitals as “positive”, Banerjee also said a mobile application will be developed to address problems and grievances of healthcare workers across the state. “I have dissolved all the ‘Rogi Kalyan Samitis’. Now the principals will be the chairpersons of the new committees. The medical superintendent and vice-president (MSVP) will be its members, along with one representative each from the medical fraternity or head of department (HoD), nurses and local councillors,” she told reporters.
